Choshi Triathlon 2009

Hello, all
On 10/4 was the last triathlon of the season : The Choshi Marina International Triathlon.
A lot of people registered to the race so it was already full before dead line, and some of NFCC members could not participate. Had a thought for the ones back to their countries, who were not here this year : David, Paul, Jacques,...
Condition were good, considering pouring rain and strong wind the day before AND the day after...
The "ancients" knew the hard course on the bike (souvenirs... my 1st OLY here on a mountain bike...) whereas the young (and crazy) dogs were discovering it.
Run course has changed this year, making it much more challenging, with lots of hills, u-turns...

So, what happened ?
Hiro-the-star, the local attraction, known anywhere he goes made a sub 2:15 after a brilliant swim (I want the same wetsuit !)
David Sims, as regular as a clock, scored his 17956th sub2:20.
Fabien, after 1 year rest... heu, recovery, is back in business. Like Eric Lesne, only a few weeks after his debuts on ironman distance. Both went under 2:40. Note : please register with romanji, it's hard enough to find your name in japanese characters in the result list...
Kudo-san had the run of the day : 38min on that course is fast !
As for me, Hiro kicked my ass on the swim, so I went deep in the red-purple-black zone to get him on the bike (Hiro, do you know you lose time putting socks on ?;)) and struggled the rest of the race. Managed a surprising overall 8th though.

Now is winter coming. Some of us are now preparing the next event : Ironman New-Zealand, in march 2010. yes, it's starting now...
See you around,

Eric

Still smiling ?

Having a chat. With a cup of tea.

I'm coming for you, HIROOOOOOOOO !!!!

Wheel size does matter, don't you think, Didier ? And it's all carbon-made... (do you read, Sandy ?)

Fabien attacking hard.

Eric L. on an 'easy' race...

David, I must tell you : blue wheels don't match with red frame...
(Keep the wheels, give me the frame ?)

Young girl running

He even cuts his bib number to be more aero... He is a STAR §

The green fly

Kudo on the hills

Nani ?? Already done ?

Antwerp Ironman 70.3

Hello, boys and girls
Here are some pictures of the last half-ironman at Antwerp (Belgium).
Swim : 1,9km
Bike : 90km
Run : 21km
Weather at start was typically local : cold and rainy.
Nice program...

David couldn't race, due to injuries. So his younger brother Olivier took his wetsuit and went for the swim : 24 minutes ! 2nd split time of age groupers !!
Yes, he's an Holderbach...
Come on, Olivier, buy a bike and some runners !

I managed a 4:35 (27 minutes / 2:22 / 1:39) after suffering hell on Antwerp's cobblestones.

Resting : the most important thing in training !

Yes, we are happy to be here...

A few minutes before chaos

Swim : done. Let's have fun now !

Warm up

At the beginning, life is beautiful...

... You joke with other people by passing them (hello, miss !)...

... Then comes the pain...

... and the final delivrance !

Cheers,
Eric

Saitama triathlon august 9th

Hello everybody

This is few pictures from the triathlon in Saitama yesterday ( 9th of august )

The triathlon distances are Swim : 1.5k Bike :80k Run 24k.

Two years ago was my first try but I had to retire during the running( due to an overweight !!!) so this time I really wanted to finish it ( even if I still have the sama weight :85kilos !!)

So I decided to learn a little bit more about drinking and eating during the race which was a very good thing because I finished and the time wasn`t so bad ( maybe the running could be better with 3 or 4 kilos less, but I still like to enjoy a beer or two sometimes so, I have to make more efforts during the race ...)

My final time was 5h23mn...( quite Happy.)

Swim :28 mn / Bike : 2h31mn / Run : 2h24mn ( overall 41th / more than 200people at the start line)
But my favourite thing about yesterday was, after the finish line to go to rest under the water falls!!!

Saitama triathlon, june 6th : results and pictures

Hello, all
Some results of the Saitama triathlon which was held last Sunday 7th.
Renaud and his beloved wife were racing (against each other, of course) in the sprint distance.
Paul, Guillaume and I were competing in the Olympic distance.

Swim in a large pond.
Bike around it : 10km per lap, quite flat but windy. Some tight turns.
Run nearby : 2,5km per lap, one "serious" hill which make you feel your legs...

Conditions were nice and warm, and all of us spent a good time (or nearly...)

Overall results :
