Ironman New Zealand : Day 3

This morning was the general briefing.
It's forbidden to drink beer during race. Jacques is desperate about this.

The check-in took us a long time :
- wetsuit had to be washed (not rinsed) by an official (despite the fact that we had a swim earlier in the morning). Went back to hotel to bring them back.
- forgot to have the bike and helmet checked. A classical.
- big news : Richard's bike cleared the technical check. What trick did he use ??? Did he hypnotize the guy ? Anyway, Paul, you can be proud of him, he'll be at the start line tomorrow !
- 2nd big news (at least for me) : my watch which got drown in a swim could be dry off and now works. Strangely, but works.

Please don't show this photo to Alain.
Note that Richard's bike is in between, getting hit by the 2 others. No worries, his (still new) bike has already dimps everywhere...

Ready to go !

The technical had more to deal with the rider than with the bike...

Technical had a hard time there, unmounting and mounting back all parts... nearly a joke !

Here we are.
Time to go to bed (after watching a rugby game on TV).

Good night !

Live coverage & 22 hr to go

Seulement 22 hr avant le coup de canon - ca fait moins d'1 jour pour ceux qui ont du mal avec les chiffres!
Only 22hr to go (at the timing of this posting) - less than a day away from pure challenge!

And look the GOOD NEWS: Ironmanlive.com will have full and live streaming coverage of the race on Saturday as well as athlete tracking.

Noter qu'il doit y avoir la video en direct (sur Internet): va falloir se lever tot maintenant!!!

Allez les gars!
Go boys!!!

First swim in Taupo lake this morning.
Still lucky with weather today.
Water is at perfect temperature and is crystal clear. Should be a pleasant swim.

Now heading f
or a ride along the run course.

Mata ne !

Richard still fighting with everything.
Today : the swimsuit. After that : the goggles.

Smiling lesson.

Welcome to New Zealand !

Hello, everybody !
After a long flight with an unexpected stop and some errance on the road, we finally made it to Taupo.
Even Richard was on time at the airport ! (now, he's still currently fighting to mount his bike)
Weather is great, sunny and warm. But rain is expected to come from tomorrow till race day.
